📡 Tenda N301 as a Wired Wi-Fi Extender / Access Point

You can use your Tenda N301 as a wired Wi-Fi extender/access point by connecting it to your main router with an Ethernet cable. This allows you to extend your network and Wi-Fi coverage to another room, floor, office, shop, or nearby area.

⭐ EXTEND YOUR Wi-Fi UP TO 80 METERS

With a CAT 6 Ethernet cable, the Tenda N301 can be positioned up to approximately 80 meters away from the main router, making it ideal for extending connectivity over longer distances.

Main Router → CAT 6 Ethernet Cable (up to 80 m) → Tenda N301 → Wi-Fi

⚙️ Step 1: Configure the Tenda N301

Before connecting it to the main router:

  1. Disconnect the N301 from the main router.

  2. Connect your PC/laptop to a LAN port of the Tenda N301.

  3. Open a browser and enter:

192.168.0.1

  1. Log in to the N301.

  2. Go to Advanced / LAN Settings.

  3. Change the LAN settings to:

  1. Save the settings.

The N301 will restart.

⚠️ Important

After changing the LAN IP, the N301 will no longer be accessible at 192.168.0.1.

Its new management address will be:

➡️ 192.168.1.2

Make sure this IP is not already being used by another device on your network.

⚙️ Step 2: Disable DHCP on the N301

Log in to the N301 using:

192.168.1.2

Go to:

DHCP Server → Disable

The main router (192.168.1.1) should be the only DHCP server on the network.

This ensures that devices connected through the N301 receive their IP addresses from the main router.

🔗 Step 3: Connect the Ethernet Cable

Now connect:

Main Router LAN Port → CAT 6 Ethernet Cable → N301 LAN Port

⚠️ Do NOT use the N301 WAN port

For this standard wired extender/access-point setup, use:

LAN → LAN

The N301's WAN/Internet port remains unused.

📶 Step 4: Configure Wi-Fi

Configure the N301's wireless settings according to your preference.

Option 1 — Same Wi-Fi Name

Use the same SSID and password as your main router.

This makes it easier for devices to connect to the available Wi-Fi network as you move around the coverage area.

Option 2 — Different Wi-Fi Name

Use a separate name, for example:

Thundernet-Extension

This makes it easy to identify whether your device is connected to the main router or the N301.

📡 Wi-Fi Channel

Since the N301 operates on 2.4 GHz, if both routers are close enough to interfere with each other, use different channels.

Recommended combinations:

  • Main Router: Channel 1 → N301: Channel 6

  • Main Router: Channel 6 → N301: Channel 11

  • Main Router: Channel 1 → N301: Channel 11


⭐ CAT 6 — UP TO 80 METERS

One of the biggest advantages of this setup is that the N301 does not need to be placed next to the main router.

You can run a CAT 6 Ethernet cable for up to approximately 80 meters and install the N301 where Wi-Fi coverage is needed.
